Progressive Rock BR
RECOMMENDS
TEMPLE OF SWITCHES
"Temple of Switches"

We all grew up in the Santa Ynez valley, and have known each other for over 30 years. Kevin (keyboards and vocals) is an electronics whiz and creative genius. Jay (drums) drives to create drum lines that are out of the ordinary. Joe (bass) played music since high school jazz band. Mike (guitar) came out of a twenty year hiatus from playing guitar to do this project.
PREACHER
"Aftermath"

Preacher is a six piece rock band from Glasgow/Ayr in the United Kingdom that?s been making quite a name for themselves thanks to their stunning live shows and studio albums. The band is made up of Martin Murphy (Lyrics, Vocals, Guitar); Arny Burgoyne (Keyboards); Greg Murphy (Lead Guitar); Iain Duncan (Drums); Gordon Munro (Bass); Ron Rodgers (Acoustic Guitar) and they are often joined for live performances on home turf with the fabulous backing duo of Angela Bell and Kerry McWhinnie. Preacher's distinctive sound is a sparkling blend of melodic rock and classic rock with subtle hints of Bowie and Floyd thrown in for good measure. Their stunning debut album Signals in many ways paid homage to the classic conceptual approach of crafting an album based around a single theme or "concept" championed by bands such as Pink Floyd, Yes and King Crimson in their heyday and more recently with the likes of Radiohead opting for a similar aesthetic.
TCP
"Temporal Chaos"

TCP ("Temporal Chaos Project") is a progressive music band consisting of Henry Tarnecky (vocals, lyrics), Blake Tobias, (bass, keyboards), Jack Wright, (guitars, drums), and Glenn Arpino (keyboards). All four are composers and producers of TCP's recorded music. The band's debut album "The Way" was released on May 19, 2009 followed by "Fantastic Dreamer", released July 19, 2011, both distributed on the 10T Records label wordwide. They are currently available at many popular retail sites such as: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Target, etc. and download sellers such as eMusic, iTunes, Napster and Rhapsody, among others. Both albums have received critical acclaim within the European and U.S. progressive communities and responses have been overwhelmingly positive. Current reviews and press releases are available on TCP's official web site.
ZOMBIE PICNIC
"A Suburb of Earth"

Zombie Picnic are a prog/post rock band from Limerick. Formed in 2012 by 4 friends looking to explore the limits of a corrugated metal clad storage space. "A Suburb of Earth" is the debut album from the widely patronized combo that is Zombie Picnic. A set of four sprawling and expansive instrumental compositions are set against a backdrop of soundscapes that take you from the beat poets of 1950's America to the sci-fi futurescapes of Arthur C. Clarke, recommended if You Like Pink Floyd and Rush. Zombie Picnic is: Brian Fitzgerald - bass, Jim Griffin - guitar, Brendan Miller - drums and Dave Tobin - guitar.
BAROCK PROJECT
"Vivo - Live In Concert"

Founded in 2003 by the composer, keyboardist and pianist Luca Zabbini, Barock Project is one of the most acclaimed Italian progressive rock groups in the world. After releasing three albums that showed the band's progressive evolution (Misteriose Voci 2007, Rebus 2009, Coffee In Neukölln 2012), in 2015 Skyline - featuring Paul Whitehead and Vittorio De Scalzi - set their final international recognition, with sales in 34 different countries. Vivo features hits from all four albums with a special and wider mention for the acclaimed Skyline, filled with the unique character of Barock, that offers a prog-rock contemporary point of view: "Progressive is not a dogma for us, but a starting point. Many bands replicate the same sounds of the 70's but we try to bring the old genre into the new century, open to modern influences.
PAOLO SIANI & FRIENDS FEAT. NUOVA IDEA
"Faces with no traces"

Paolo Siani was the original drummer of the classic RPI band Nuova Idea from Genova. That band came from a 60s group called PLEP and its members also contributed to The Underground Set/The Psycheground Group projects. As Nuova Idea they released three good albums in the early 70s, the final one "Clowns" something of a favorite among fans. Despite the recordings and good live activity the band split around 1973, with members Siani and Ricky Belloni going on to form the band. In the later 70s Siani would play with both Equipe 84 and Opus Avantra. After the album "Castles, wings, stories and dreams" and the DVD "Nuova Idea -Live Anthology", "Faces with no traces" is the second solo album of Paolo Siani.
FAR FROM YOUR SUN
"In the beginning... was the emotion"

Far From Your Sun is a project aiming to showcase current rock music compositions by bringing together the work of talented artists coming from various backgrounds such as photography, painting and writing. Far From Your Sun means that we can live fulfilled and happy in the shadow of the artificial lights, far from the fads, far from a flattering, but often elusive, misleading sun.
GARYBALDI
"Storia Di Un'altra Città"

From the historic ProgVention 2010 event - captured in a series of releases under the name of "Live in Bloom" -, when the Genoese Garybaldi had specifically reformed after a long hiatus, there was still a 'studio evidence' missing to fulfill their comeback. "Storie di un'altra città" (Stories from another city) comes sixteen years after the previous album "La ragione e il torto" and, thanks to a fresh, fluid and inspired songwriting, gives new vitality to a fundamental band of the early '70s Italian rock. It's difficult to quote a song rather than another, because we are in the presence of a very diverse rock record, where each piece has a strong personality. Guitars and keyboards are dominating, two instruments that project the album towards the future rather than looking wistfully at the past: the result is surprisingly addictive and amazing!
LUIGI MILANESE
"Closer to Heaven"

Luigi Milanese is a guitarist, composer and performer from Genoa, Italy. He studied guitar and music composition at the "Antonio Vivaldi? State Conservatory of Music in Alessandria, Italy and is teaching guitar in the state school of music in Santa Margherita Ligure ? Portofino, Genoa. In 1998 Frank Khlerjoined the band on keyboards. In 2000 Yenz became the lead singer of the band as well. All fans of progressive rock can look forward to what this band will come up with. The band's upcoming live performances will delight you for sure.
PROFUNA OCEAN
"In Vacuum"

Profuna Ocean is an alternative progrock band from the Netherlands, founded in 2008. With their sequences of thought out compositions, vivacious melodies and powerful rock sounds their music seems to be constantly working toward some kind of musical trip and introduces the listener to the world of Profuna Ocean. In 2009 the band released their first album Watching The Closing Sky, which received international attention with airplay in the radio show of Sander Guis on 3FM (Dutch radio) and the radio show of Rick Wakeman (Yes) in England. In the next period the band worked on their live performance with a number of shows on many different stages and shared the stage with bands like Focus, Knight Area and Racoon. In 2013 Profuna Ocean won the award for ?best progressive rock band of The Netherlands? (Dutch Exposure Project) with their song Waiting For The Fall.
LA BOTTEGA DEL TEMPO A VAPORE
"Il Guerriero Errante"

Formed by sevem musicians this group born in Benevento, Italy in 2014, their aim is to merge the music with poetry, legend and history. "The Wandering Warrior" is a concept album based on a story by Alfredo Martinelli who tells the legend of a mysterious warrior Sunni-Lombard. This story took place with metal rock / progressive riffs and strong rhythm parts surrounded by epic orchestrations, classical, folk and tribal influences. Inspired by the music of groups such as the Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, PFM, Le Orme, Dream Theater, Angra, Liquid Tension Experiment, Epica, Porcupine Tree and many more.
GLACIER
"Ashes For The Monarch"

Glacier came into being in late 1978, when John Youdale (guitar & vocal) joined forces with Dave Dawson (guitar & vocal), Dale Harbron (bass) and Mick King (drums) and gigged briefly as Contraband. This new name, however, was to be short lived and changed briefly to Glass Ear and then due to a misheard telephone booking the name Glacier appeared on the noticeboard - and the band was born. Their music turn around a melodic progressive rock band based in the North East of England and have been in existence since the late 70's early 80's. All music is their own original work. The bands original aims were to develop a music and writing style that would be recognised as Glacier. The music was completely against the mould of popular music at the time, and harked back to the progressive bands of ten years earlier.
SUMMER EFFECT
"Afterlife"

Summer Effect is a post-rock band from Indonesia which was formed in early 2012. Afterlife is the third album from Summer Effect which contains 10 instrumental post-rock, progressive songs. In this album they tried to play tones with fractional composition of different time signatures. Simple and unexpected chord progression to produce a unique dynamic, stomping, dark vibe, like what is being experienced on the track Envoy, Clouded Minds or Don't Let Me Disappear. They are assisted by a musician named "Erdi David"; (Dwaninungka), which fills the bass on the song Beating Heart & Everything Seems Different. Also, the drums sounds warmer than their previous albums. Summer Effect comes with their third record, inviting people who likes shoegaze, ambient and post-rock to produce certain vibrations of atmosphere to listen "After Life"...
AISLES
"Hawaii"

Aisles announce new studio album and release online documentary. The Chilean prog rock sextet returns with their new studio effort, "Hawaii", a two-disc concept album that will be available starting in July. Chilean prog rockers Aisles have just announced the title and release date of "Hawaii", their highly anticipated fourth studio album. The LP will be released on July 29, 2016 via Presagio Records on CD and digitally, while the vinyl edition will be available in November. "Hawaii" is a two-disc concept album about human colonies established in space after the destruction of the Earth. Its twelve tracks explore the dilemmas and challenges that the individual and the human spirit would face in this futuristic scenario. Regarding the theme and sound of the album, guitarist and producer Germán Vergara states: "Without a doubt it's our most profound work so far. With "Hawaii" we dug deep in search of a concept that could really move us. Our objective was to write music that would emotionally and mentally take us to the place where the events in the album occur: Space".
KIAMA
"The Sign of IV"

Tigermoth Records proudly presents the release of Sign of IV, the debut album from Kiama which features Rob Reed (Magenta / Kompendium), Andy Edwards (IQ, Robert Plant, Frost), Luke Machin (Maschine, the Tangent) and Dylan Thompson (The Reasoning, Shadow of the Sun). We have drawn from a pool of music and references that came from the early 70s and from bands that were largely considered to be "rock" but to us made some of the great "Prog epics" of the era: Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" and "Kashmir", Rainbow's "Stargazer" and Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". These became our template. We felt that there was no point in making music that sounded like our previous bands. We wanted to do something different. One factor that we loved from these great 1970s albums was that the bands were not afraid to mix styles. A Queen or a Led Zeppelin album might follow rock with jazz, folk with blues. We were not afraid to do the same thing, so each track has a very different feel.
COSMOGRAF
"The Unreasonable Silence"

Cosmograf is a prog rock project lead by Robin Armstrong, a multi instrumentalist musician from Waterlooville, England.  The Cosmograf sound is rooted in 70's classic rock with a contemporary and progressive twist with obvious influences from classic progressive rock such as Pink Floyd, Yes and Genesis, but with more contemporary flavours from bands such as Porcupine Tree, Muse, and Radiohead. Robin plays guitar, keyboards, bass and drums, sings, and records, producing himself and fellow collaborating musicians, in his own self built music studio "The Trees". Cosmograf tracks feature guest musicians from the progressive rock community performing and contributing to each album. Captivated as a teenager by Deep Purple's fusion of Heavy Rock with Baroque intros and lead lines, Robin often utilises a blend of classical music and contemporary rock music to provide a fusion of progressive rock that polarises audiences and demands attention.
KARIBOW
"Holophiniun"

Karibow is a German Crossover Prog band founded by Oliver Rüsing in late 1996. In the nineties RÜSING played with multiple projects including Last Turion, Counterparts, Chinook, Maquis, MC West And The Canadian Swell Guys and many more, working as a live drummer, drum teacher and studio musician in Europe and North America. As he progressed through his bands, he picked up multiple influences and styles that would eventually create the foundation that would be Karibow. The end result is an award winning project with strong roots in Progressive Rock, Electronic Music and Album Oriented Rock.
SYNDONE
Eros & Thanatos

Skilled in uniting the stylistic continuity with the refinement and the addition of new elements, Syndone of Eros & Thanatos has something more, as pointed Comoglio: "The most important difference from Odysseas is now finally" you can hear a real band ". Thanks to the several gigs we made the line-up has become so established to give an added value of unity and style to the new work being more cohesive. Then the string orchestra, which opened a new, more powerful and interesting sound, the Arabic and Hebrew sung, which emphasizes the derivation from the "Song of Songs". Finally the two special guest...". If in "Odysseas" were Marco Minnemann and John Hackett to make precious the band, Eros & Thanatos presents a welcome return: Ray Thomas, singer and flutist of the legendary Moody Blues who has already played in "The Beauty is The Beast", and the beloved co-former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett. "It 's the first time that an electric guitar is recorded in a Syndone album!
DAYMOON
"Cruz Quebrada"

Daymoon comes from Sintra, Portugal, a Portuguese transgressive rock act Daymoon aims to delight the world with an incoherent concoction of music from the past millennium and across the entire planet. All proceeds of our third studio album go pan-European cancer fighters Europacolon. Daymoon use the eclectic approach to music for which they are known, and speak from the heart about cancer, death, widowhood, and restarting life from scratch. All artist"s proceeds go to pan-European cancer association Europacolon.
NATHAN
"Nebulosa"

Nathan were born as a tribute band of Genesis, Pink Floyd and Supertramp, but with "Nebulosa" they have evolved into a creature that's finally able to create completely original songs: in a nutshell, this is a real turning point in their musical career, as well as a bold step into the future. Today Nathan is therefore a progressive rock group whose core consists of three very experienced musicians "Piergiorgio Abba (keyboards), Bruno Lugaro (bass and vocals) and Fabio Sanfilippo (drums)" with the longtime collaboration of the trustworthy Marco Milano (piano), Monica Giovannini (backing vocals) and Mauro Brunzu (guitar). Fundamental has then been the contribute of young and talented guitarist Daniele Ferro, who has given a "harder" feel to the compositions written by Abba, Lugaro and Milano, and made sure that the work on "Nebulosa" could be completed.
THE CASSINI PROJEKT
"Sellout"

The Cassini Projekt, a rock band which incorporates prog and hard rock into a fusion of bombastic music. The Cassini Projekt was set up in 2008 by composer and multi-instrumentalist Alex McDonnell. It is about big riffs, even bigger guitar solos and prog rock wig outs. Every genre is up for grabs in the experimentation stakes. It is about rock music without boundaries and musical journeys above all else. The songs are intended to incorporate intricacy and a free spirited approach and they are inspired by the idea of interactions between consciousness and existence.
ONTOFIELD
"Sleeping With FractalS"

Ontofield are a UK based band and were signed to Adient Records at the end of 2012 and released the debut single called "Moon Handed", on 1st Jan 2013. Ontofield was created by John Graham, who had the original idea and wrote, played, sung, programmed and recorded all of Ontofield's output to date. Crash Multi-Instrumentalist John Graham has crafted a fine album of progressive rock in which he played and recorded every instrument and mastered his own album. Fans of Transatlantic and Freedom To Glide should love this!! Awesome album!! Favorite track: The Key.
TWO PLACES AT ONCE
"Birdtraps"

Two Places at Once is a band formed in 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, by Victor Barbosa (drummer), Renan Rocha (Vocal and Guitar) and Juan Salinas (bass), with an intention to mix different musical genres, like Alternative Rock, Progressive Rock, Metal, and other genres. The influences range from Pink Floyd and Oasis to Black Sabbath and Deftones. The compositions and the lyrics may be more delicate and touching, but it doesn't mean that they cannot do something more agressive and heavy. In the begining of 2014, the band started to record their first EP called "Different Selves", that was released in March 2014, and has a production by Elton Bozza. Now they are back with a full album. Enjoy Two Places At Once.
NEMRUD
"Nemrud"

The third album from one of Turkey's most unique progressive rock bands is comprised of four interrelated stories based on mount Nemrud. The songs blend symphonic and progressive elements that refer to the Turkish sounds of the '70s, as well as contemporary prog rock. The LP cover was designed by Betul Dengili Atli, one of Turkey's leading illustrators. The LP is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and presented in a special silver foil embossed gatefold cover. An inner sleeve with liner notes is included too. Nemrud was established in the second half of 2008 in Istanbul by Mert Göçay, Harun Sönmez and Aycan Sari. By the time the band had its current formation, there had been several changes in the composition of band members. In mid 2010, Nemrud released their first conceptual Progressive Rock album "Journey of the Shaman" by Musea Records from France.
