RETROSPECTIVE
"Re:Search"

Retrospective represents a young generation of the Polish progressive rock bands. Their music is inspired by different artists with a broad spectrum of musical genres. The band is not restricted to a particular music style either. They often serach for different kinds of rock, ranging from art to hard. They are able to create special musical atmoshpere, full of emotions but at the same time surprise their listeners by a hard sound. All those varieties and contrasts make their music outstanding.
THIS WINTER MACHINE
"The Man Who Never Was"

A neo-progressive rock band based in Yorkshire, England. Taking their cues and influences from the pioneers of the genre in the 70s and 80s
they bring the sound right up to date combining soaring and emotive vocals, thought provoking lyrics, consummate and evocative musicianship and melodies that linger long after the music stops. Jevo learned to play guitar on old cardboard shoe boxes with elastic bands stretched over them. He got the idea from Blue Peter. One of his proudest achievements is writing the solo for After Tomorrow Comes on a box labelled "Beige Sandals. Size 9 (non leather)" which he still uses today for encores and photo shoots. He says "Yeah, guitars are ok but for that real tone it has to be a box that held a nice, sensible pair of loafers". Keep up to date on all the band news, gigs and releases by joining our mailing list.
INGRANAGGI DELLA VALLE
"Warm Spaced Blue"

The second album by the Italian progressive rock band features a slightly darker sound and there also are traces of jazz. Expect an adventurous blend of traditional instruments (including guitars, violin, mellotron and Hammond) and 'more modern' ingredients s.a. drum machines. An interesting release by Black Widow Records.

BRIEG GUERVENO
"Valgori"

Brieg Guerveno is the project of one man, that of Brieg Guerveno, Breton author, composer and performer, with a passion for progressive music, the rock of the seventies, extreme music, and last but not least, his culture, his region and his second mother tongue: Breton.Brieg writes, composes and sings his texts in Breton, and this he does from the heart. Dark and melancholy, like the Breton gwerz, those poems carried by the oral tradition. Such tunes and texts have, across the centuries, built, layer by layer, the vast repertoire of traditional Breton songs. This is the project of one man, but also that of a trio. the Brieg Guerveno trio has performed a lot in their native region but also  beyond the borders in England and Japan. These three believes in what they do.
EYESBERG
"Masquerade"

Eyesberg is a british-german band project consisting of Malcolm Shuttleworth (vocals), Norbert Podien (keyboards) and Georg Alfter (guitar, bass guitar). Ulf Jacobs (drums) from ARGOS and YACOBS completes the music.
GÖSTA BERLINGS SAGA
"Sersophane"

The music of Gösta Berlings Saga is an incredibly dynamic Nordic instrumental adventure, tilting from melodic, starkly beautiful lines shimmering like an aurora borealis over the desolate Arctic tundra, to powerful and aggressive riffs reminiscent of glacier calves crashing into rugged Scandinavian fjords. Gösta Berlings Saga was formed in 2000 in the Stockholm suburb of Vällingby by David Lundberg and Alexander Skepp, joined by a common love of the late 60s organ/drums duo Hansson/Karlsson. The new band took its name from one of the most famous works in Swedish literature, the debut novel of Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf, which was published in 1891. The band's lineup and musical palette was expanded in 2004 with the addition of Gabriel Tapper (then surnamed Hermansson) and guitarist Mathias Danielsson.
THE AURORA PROJECT
"World Of Grey"

This year is the 10th anniversary of The Aurora Project. A band which started in 1999 by jamming out together after playing card-game "Magic The Gathering", and which of today still writes their songs exactly like 10 years ago: by having hours of jam sessions. The album is recorded in the famous Dutch Excess studio (Epica, Gorefest) and the album is mastered by the legendary Bob Katz who received several Grammy's for his work in the past. The album will be released worldwide 5th May 2009 by the US label "The Laser's Edge", who successfully launched acts like Riverside, Zero Hour and Knight Area in the past. The band will go on a club and festival-tour in 2009-2010 to promote the album...
KYRUS
(EX-SYNAESTHESIA)
"Vox Humana"

Not afraid to take songwriting and musical experimentation to a whole new level by pushing the boundaries. Creating fresh, new and exciting music with influences ranging from eighties pop e.g. Depeche Mode and Kate Bush through to modern post-progressive and alternative rock music such as Muse and Porcupine Tree.
KNIGHT AREA
"Heaven and Beyond"

Knight Area was founded in 2004 by Gerben Klazinga. That year he released the album ?The Sun Also Rises?, for which he wrote all the music, and to which contributed numerous musicians. The album became a worldwide success and was followed by live performances in the United States (NEARfest) and other leading progressive rock venues in Europe. Knight Area plays symphonic rock music, also classified as neo-progressive rock. The music is a variety of styles with very melodic keyboards and guitars. The songs vary from ballads to more rock and metal kind of music.
THE GATHERING
"Blueprints"

24 tracks of outtakes, demos & unreleased songs taken from The Gathering's "Souvenirs" and "Home" recordings (2001-2005). Never released tracks, rough mixes, songs we couldn't combine with other album material, live jams and experimental soundscapes on a double album with detailed liner notes from the band! Beautiful designed digi-pack with artwork made by Gema Pérez. The release is accompanied by a 16 page booklet with liner notes written by René, Frank, Anneke and Hans.
STEVE HUGHES
"Once We Were - Part 2"

Steve Hughes (Ex drummer for BBT, Kino & The Enid returns with his follow up album to Tales From The Silent Ocean. With an ambitious double album set to launch this year. The C.D will be released in two partsAnd is entitled Once We Were (Part one and part two) The first C.D will be released in May 2016 and the second part in December 2016. It's quite a departure from his debut in terms of styles but still retains the progressive edge and strong melodies reminiscent of TFTSO with a larger emphasis on stronger structures of arrangement and enhanced variation in styles.
NUOVA ERA
"Return to the castle"

Nuova Era are a fundamental band in the Italian prog-rock scene: active between the late '80s and the first half of the '90s, they released in those years four albums which most of the prog enthusiasts consider unmissable for whoever nourishes even the slightest interest in the "progressive rock matter". "Return to the Castle" is no exception, and marks the true comeback for the group led by Walter Pini, the band's main composer, here joined among others by the historical singer and guitarist Alex Camalti. Over twenty years have passed since "Il passo del soldato" (1995), a long period interrupted in 2010 by an eponymous release (AMS187CD, 2010), a compilation of already released songs, demos, new studio and live recordings. Given these premises, the publication of "Return to the Castle" therefore represents an important event: a 75-minute symphonic progressive rock, sung in English for the first time in the history of the band, which ranges from baroque sections to other ones more dreamy and atmospheric.
CAP - CONSORZIO ACQUA POTABILE + ALVARO "JUMBO" FELLA
"Coraggio e Mistero"

Alvaro "Jumbo" Fella with the Consorzio Acqua Potabile, a partnership from which the album "Coraggio e Mistero" was born: the progressive sound of the CAP has undeniable references to Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, but with the inclusion of Alvaro their music it has become richer and more powerful, thanks to the incredible tone of this extraordinary singer and performer. The Courage to write and sing all he has been able to scream and scratch to the microphone in those difficult years, the 70's that saw him protagonist with Jumbo. At Cap Alvaro has brought a breath of freshness and renewal, he has taught and told so much and has assigned the task to the group to write about the Mystery: stories, tales, passions shades of magical aura that this single word can evoke. An experience that has resulted in a tough and demanding job, but in the end gave a new adventurous journey in the colorful and enchanted world of the most classic progressive.
GOBLIN
"Live 1978"

Recorded on May 25th 1978, the show here presented was the real penultimate one for Goblin in one of their most classic line-ups: Massimo Morante (guitar, vocals), Claudio Simonetti (keyboards), Fabio Pignatelli (bass guitar), Agostino Marangolo (drums), with guest musician Antonio Marangolo on saxophone. Maurizio Guarini, a second keyboard player who joined the band to play in "Roller" (1976), had already left the group in late '76, during the recording sessions for "Suspiria", when Goblin were almost completely fed up with playing live in almost always unadequate places - mostly discoteques and dancing clubs. After having played a single show in the RAI studios in Turin in 1977 and another one at an exclusive Cinevox Record event in the following year, Goblin were invited to participate to the MIMS (Mercato Internazionale Musica e Spettacolo - International Music and Entertainment Market) in Sanremo, a 7-day happening especially made for musicians and music businessmen. The band's show consists of the "Profondo Rosso / Deep Red" main theme, two tracks from "Roller" ("Aquaman" and "Snip Snap") and five from "Il Fantastico Viaggio dei Bagarozzo Mark", an Italian-sung LP (very uncommon for a band well known for their instrumental soundtrack efforts) that had just been released at the time.
OSANNA
"Pape Satan Aleppe"

The new and highly anticipated new album! Osanna release it with a beautiful papersleeve edition with photo book inside. The CD includes one unreleased studio track which is the song that gives the title to the entire work "Papè Satàn aleppe" while the other songs are recorded live during the concert last May at Club Il giardino in Lugagnano (Verona). The set list was chosen from the entire repertoire. It lasts over two hours and there are many excerpts from Palepolitana and some of the historical repertoire as L'uomo, Taka Boom, oro caldo (Fuje 'a chistu paese) plus some covers that are a tribute and a love quote to fellow travelers of the progressive rock world, such as Banco, PFM, Area, Nomadi, Equipe 84, Alan Parsons Project, but especially to those who have flown away like Francesco di Giacomo, Rodolfo Maltese, Demetrio Stratos and Augusto Daolio and lifelong friend Pino Daniele. The same "Pape Satan aleppe" is a tribute to Umberto Eco.
ERIS PLUVIA
"Different Earths"

The Genoese band Eris Pluvia contributed in 1991, with the debut album "Rings of Earthly Light", to the rebirth of the Italian progressive rock scene; a record to be counted without much hesitation among the classics of that era, which unfortunately did not have any follow-up until the recent "Third Eye Light", published by AMS Records in 2010 (AMS 188 CD). "Different Earths" comes then six years after its predecessor, renewing its formula and giving us a band still inspired, that prefers, to the display of instrumental technique typical of certain progressive rock standards, a more delicate and linear, heartfelt and exciting approach. Eris Pluvia's reference names have not changed over time: hints of Camel and Pink Floyd can be heard especially in the guitar solos, in the flute melodies and in the sustained keyboard sounds.
PRESENCE
"Master and Following"

Presence are formed in the late '80s, the group is composed by singer / pianist Sophya Baccini, the multi-instrumentalist Enrico Iglio, and guitarist Sergio Casamassima. Sophya Baccini, the daughter of a tenor, has consistently worked to improve her vocal technique, integrating with opera. Enrico Iglio , third-generation musician, studied at the Academy of Music percussion, piano, composition and orchestration. Sergio Casamassima is a graduate of Los Angeles Guitar Institute of Technology. 3rd EAR EXPERIENCE
"Stones Of A Feather"

On their new album Stones Of A Feather 3rd Ear Experience have taken full advantage of the musical possibilities unique to space rock. It is clear that their environment, the Mojave desert, with its wide open spaces, big skies and rugged landscapes, have helped them to blossom a modern desert music, rich in the complex overtones of 60's psychedelic rock. Stones Of A Feather, 3rd Ear Experiences 4th album, is a curious mixture of the old and the new; reaching back into the reckless abandonment of Cream live circa: 1967 to Ornette Coleman's free jazz, diving down into  the deep well of Krautrock to soaring on fuzzy Sabbath like riffs of contemporary stoner rock. Yet no generalization is ultimately true of 3rd Ear Experience. The music was derived from spontaneous ideas that came up during live jams on their 2015 tour of Europe and from free form jamming at the FurstWurld Gallery of Music and Performing Arts where the band records. The album guests 18 local desert musicians considered by many to be the cream of the desert crop!  Dug Pinnick of Kings X fame, returns once again to add his heavy bottom growl to the brew. Please browse the blog for interesting stories on each of these musicians and how they came to be part of this album.
KARFAGEN
"Spektra"

The name Karfagen was first heard in 1997 when Antony Kalugin formed the band at school. While he was studying at the architectural university (1998) he began to record the first Karfagen album. And then they were two. Antony Kalugin and his close friend Sergei Kovalev (accordion and harmonica). In 2002 Antony completed his first solo album "The Water" Then there was another period of silence where Antony worked on commercial new age - relax projects. From 2003 - 2005 Antony composed and performed on more than 40 albums, that were released in Russia and Ukraine. With those projects, Antony gathered the necessary funds to record the first Karfagen Album and in 2005 the band reformed and went into the studio to record Continium, the first KARFAGEN album which led the band to sign with Unicorn Digital.
HALF PAST FOUR
"Land of the Blind"

Half Past Four is one of the best progressive rock bands to have emerged from Canada. Over nearly two decades, they have developed a unique sound, employing traditional prog-rock music laiden with folk, country, jazz, heavy metal and classical genres, among others. It is this shifting flow of sound and feeling that distinguishes Half Past Four. They are an aural tapestry, weaving 50+ years of musical influences into mellifluous melodies and rhythmic resonances that take their listeners on a journey to states that are both fresh and familiar.
PH2
"20 years after..."

We are a duo, playing progressive rock. Philippe Moati has composed most of the tracks and plays the guitar, the bass and the keyboard. Philippe Mercier plays the drums and other percussion instruments. Some tracks include guest performances by various other artists. At the beginning, we were influenced by the music of Genesis, Yes, Van der Graff Generator, Kansas, Mike Oldfield, Peter Gabriel and son on before discovering Prokofiev, hostakovitch and Stravinsky, and more recently Flower Kings, Kaïpa and Ritual. From all of this music we acquired the willingness to be demanding, to combine authenticity, emotion and originality. The Ph2's music is not what you would call easy listening. As a result, perhaps it?s not to meant for mass consumption! First and foremost, we try to have pleasure and we are naïve enough to think that if we enjoy the result, others like us might enjoy it too. So, to meet you, we share our music on line. Of course, we are eager to know how you feel it. So let your comments, even if it is to say it is a mess!
LEON ALVARADO
"The Future Left Behind"

According to Leon, ?The idea of creating a concept album out of instrumental progressive rock music had appealed to me ever since I first heard Rick Wakeman's "Journey To The Centre of The Earth". What I found difficult was to create all the individual pieces that would unify the set of ideas into a single concept. It meant for me to come up with a story, some music and a set of visuals that together would form an inclusive experience. I started by working on music that had more of a cinematic feel than my usual, meaning that when played, it evokes certain imagery in the listener's mind. "Says Leon, "My goal was to create something that would combine the artwork and the music into one cohesive vision.
PANDORA
"Ten Years Like in a Magic Dream.."

When a group gives their band a name, hence to specific genre, it's never at random. And even when it comes out as part of some sort of "internal vote", it hides the unconscious reasons that will carry on dreams - and goals - that will give life to various components. Pandora resorts to mythology, as it often happens with to those who refers to Progressive music, that is, to that genre of music that peaked at the turn of the 60's and 70's, and subsequently decreased in number of enthusiasts, and today was once again on the increase although just within the genre's group followers. But the link between the 'now' and 'then' highlights certain analogies, certain similarities, which shorten timeframe and turn fresh concepts and ideas passed down through books, and often used by the people in the form metaphors.
NTH ASCENSION
"In Fine Initium"

Created 2009 and Born in January 2010 under the original name of Nth Degree. At this early stage the band consisted of Darrel, Craig, Martin and Spud (playing Bass & Singing). In 2011 the band changed the name to Nth Ascension and recorded a "live" demo album entitled "Frequencies Of Day & Night". This was self-released as CD-R's and also placed for free download on the online platform Aurovine. The band was signed by Aurovine/Sonic Vista director after a live performance and the band set to work on an official debut recording. Recorded by Phil Brown (long time friend and "live" band mate) the album "Ascension Of Kings" was released on 13th December 2014 to wide acclaim. February 10th 2016 the band officially moved over in entirety to Melodic Revolution Records. The band is currently working on new material for a late summer 2016 release.
ALEX SABA
"Atmo & Spheres"

For some time I have tryed to compose music for meditation, but never I could go into meditation to do them, or was very excited and put a lot of rhythm, a lot of percussion and meditation turned into a dance - which ceases to be a good idea, but it was not what I wanted to do. Several songs were recorded but could not use them to meditate, they were very excited. Finally I decided to focus, meditate and the result is this project: Atmo & Spheres (The Quantum Meditative Suite). The order of the tracks has a trick to deceive your mind, but not so you should worry about. In fact, just listen to the whole album and let yourself go. Just watch the thoughts that appear without identifying with them. Soon you will be in the most beautiful place in the world: beyond your body, totally immersed in yourself. All songs here work together as a suite or separate.
JONAS LINDBERG & THE OTHER SIDE
"Pathfinder"

Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side is a Progressive rock project from Stockholm, Sweden founded in 2012 by bassplayer, songwriter and producer Jonas Lindberg. It all started back in 2008 when the EP "In Secret Pace" was recorded by Jonas as an exam-project at the college of Music in Piteå, Sweden. The first recordings featured a large lineup of musicians and was originally intended to work as a demo for an upcoming band. But as term ended Jonas moved to Stockholm to pursue a career as a freelance musician and the idea got put on hold. In 2012 "In Secret Pace" was finally released on digital platforms as Jonas started to work on new material. This time the lineup featured a 5 piece band and the second EP "The Other Side" was finished and released in 2013. The project was named "Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side" from the title track of the album after its release.
