Redbazar
is one of the important revelations in the progressive rock scene, from
last years, that impressed me a lot. I had the pleasure to listen all their
works, since their first album called "Connections". In my
opinion, they already have become a very important band at the present
time. The musical conception from the muscians on the band, is highly sensitive,
filled of varied styles such as, Symphonic Progressive Rock, Hard Rock,
Prog Metal and Neo-Prog, everything well mixed with atmospheric arrangements
and with a vibrant instrumental, including perfect lyrics. Their musical
influences borrows not only from the "Progressive Rock Golden Age" styles,
but also owes a soft smell of Prog Metal, as exemplified, a amazing mix
among "Led Zeppelin", "Rush", "Dream Theatre", "Deep
Purple", "Porcupine Tree", "Arena", "Eloy", "Kansas",
"Enchant", "Marillion", "Yes", "Nth Ascension",
"Unified Past", "Genesis" and others in the same line. On
the Redbazar band, we have a basic lineup, composed by keyboards,
guitar, bass and drums, but, with a special attractive that you surely
will not find easily in a new progressive rock band. They have wonderful
keyboards and fantastic guitar solos structure, where they know how to
add a "fullness" to all the arrangements, together the nicely vibrant voice
from Peter Jones, together creating a pleasant harmony, sometimes introspective
and sometimes powerful, however, without aggressiveness. Meanwhile, the
bass establishes perfectly the rhythmic and harmonic functions in the compositions.
The drums follows in the line of "Fine Prog/Hard Rock/Classic Rock"
played with strong conviction. But in my view, the main point on the band
are the guitars solos where Andy Wilson shows a really emotion full of
inspiration, all the guitar performances on the songs, are one of my favorite
moments on this band, where Andy's musical inspiration shows an explosive
energy, generated in combination with excellent from all musicians's performance.
"Tales from The Bookcase" shows a range of stunning musical
moments, including many symphonic and melodic elements, including amazing
arrangements, the album is divided into eight tracks, the total time is
72 minutes, however, all the songs are so perfect, that more time for the
album would not be necessary, the eight tracks and the total time are enough
for you listen many times. All tracks have an excellent musical performance,
but I have my favorites songs, and they are "Queen of the Night,
Part 1", "Calling Her On", "Lights of Home",
"Sunset for a New World", "Almost Over" and
"Queen of the Night, Part 2" are the masterpieces on this
album, of course, these last three songs conveys a real musical feeling
that the group want to passes for listeners. Redbazar and their
fourth album "Tales From The Bookcase" have a intense musical
depth, with a focus and an assurance of more a strong name into the progressive
rock around the world. In fact, you should sit down comfortably and listen
and listen many times this wonderful album, you'll be amazed with the musical
skills from these talented musicians. The album "Tales From The Bookcase"
is another one important acquisition for all the Progressive Rock's lovers
around the worlds. Brilliant and fantastic, an amazing album and band,
highly recommendable...

REDBAZAR
Red
Bazar formed in 2007 with Andy Wilson on guitar, Paul Comerie on Drums
and Mick Wilson on bass and keyboards. The trio released their debut
album in 2008, "Connections" which was an instrumental album.
It was very well received by the prog world and excellent reviews from
around the world.

The
following year they started work writing and recording the follow up album
"Differential Being" which again was an instrumental album.
The album was released in 2010 and this too received excellent reviews
and saw the band move forward, making a video to the first track (Paragon)
from the album and undertaking a series of gigs.
The
band's next release was a three track EP "After The Ice Storm"
released in 2013. This used more keyboards, allowing them to create
a wider variety of sounds. The EP also received glowing reviews.

The
use of more keyboards made it difficult for the band to play live as Mick
was juggling between keyboards and bass, so the band took the decision
to find a keyboard player. After a long search and many auditions,
along came Gary Marsh. He was perfect and was promptly added to the
band's line-up towards the end of 2013.
Since
then, the band have continued to write material, but wanted to try something
different. This resulted in a collaboration with vocalist Peter Jones,
who had already released his own album "Cocoon" under the
name of "Tiger Moth Tales".
Through 2014 and 2015 the band wrote and recorded the songs for "Tales
from the Bookcase" which is a collection of musical stories, many
of which are based on Pete's favorite books. The album was released
early in 2016 by White Knight
Records.
A series
of gigs to promote the album will be announced later this year. The
band will also be performing Pete's music later this year including Summer's
End Festival (U.K) in October. |
