BAND AND RECORD OF THE MONTH
Certainly, we are having closed 2016 with a collection of great new and old bands and some fascinating projects. Today, there are some bands that blend Symphonic Progressive Rock, Art-Rock and Hard Rock in a perfect combination, showing an energetic and explosive musical performance, bringing many interesting echoes and monsters of bands from '70s, so I have great pleasure to introduce for all of you, one of the new sensations of Progressive Rock from this century. As one of the best bands chosen by me, this year, Aperco, closes my preference for the month of November, 2016. Aperco is an Israeli group, originally from Tel-Aviv, established in 2013, composed by four musicians, but inicially formed by a pair of cousins, Tom Maizel - Vocals/Guitars and Tal Maizel - Keyboards, both sharing the same interest and ideas, following in the footsteps of some great English icons from 70's, such as Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Camel and many others in the same line. Aperco plays an exciting Symphonic Progressive Rock style, a musical style quite always appreciated around the world. Classic symphonic Progressive Rock fans will find tremendous delight hearing the music from Aperco, a rich sound full of memorable and sensitive melodies with extended and atmospheric instrumental sections. with well elaborated compositions, full of feeling, adding some new musical discoveries, combined with a high musical culture, filled of magnificent arrangements. Around the designing musical from the group, two instruments constantly dominate the arrangements, at first, the keyboard solos are extremely well done, and conveys a wonderful symphonic atmosphere, while lush guitar's solos, with stunning passages, complements the arrangements, giving to the guitarist, a freedom to develope dreamy guitar solos, into a wonderful arrangement, of course, the arrangements present a magnificent instrumental series, including flutes, acoustic guitar, piano sounds, a striking bass and a drums that complements the whole set without being aggressive. However, one of the special points are the vocals, in a melodic and soft tones, which follows the paths of guitars. Simply, everything very beautiful, delicious, magnificent and incredibly well done. After two years in the making of their first work, Aperco released, in early 2016, their debut album called "The Battle", a concept album about the "Person’s Life Cycle" and their emotional stages. "The Battle" contains ten tracks, including 61 minutes of a pure musical emotion, all tracks have an excellent musical performance, following in the line such as one big "Rock Opera". All the songs are filled of an amazing instrumental feeling. It is so hard to determine which is, or, what are the best, among all tracks of this album, but I'd like to display you, my favourite songs, starting with "A Call For Submission", this song is full of symphonism, guitars' solos dominate all the arrangements, very close in the line of a Pink Floyd's style. "The Battle", contains almost twelve minuts, sounding like an epic soundtrack, may be considered as the first movement, also very close to the Pink Floyd's style, but including an instrumental energy more agressive, full of keyboards and guitar passages. Following the seguence, "Euphoria", another vibrant and incredible song, stuffed with keyboard arrangements and amazing flutes, synthesizers and many sound effects, brighten this beautiful track. "Delirium Before Lunch", is an acoustic song, thinking about the concept about the album, may be the worst nightmare from the "Person’s Life Cycle", following by "Dissonant Sound Within", this song may be considered as the second movement from the album, also, the instrumental section follows in the same line, such as "Pink Floyd's style. Closing my prefered songs, the last track, or "The Grand Finale", the third and may be the last movement of the album, called "Awaken". This song closes the album as a masterpiece, very symphonic, melodic with a impressive orchestration, where the instruments follow to an incredible and delirious battle as a real giants fight, but without winners. Keyboards and guitars sounds, dominate all the arrangements, and the vocals complement this musical wonder, ending in an epic section, as the end of a great movie. Simply, I have no more words to describe this lush song, you need and must listen it many and many times. You need listen this album immediately, and should listen all the tracks with a special attention, can bet, you will love their music. Brilliant and fantastic, an amazing album and band, highly recommendable...
